In daily use, a ventilator is a breathing aid that is useful for providing respiratory support to infants and children who need it. Mechanical ventilation is a machine with a system designed to convert the transmitted energy into electrical and pneumatic formats (compressed gas), to assist or replace the work of the respiratory muscles. The Workshop – organized by Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care/Indonesian Pediatric Society – aims to provide the updated concept of mechanical ventilation in critically ill infants and children from basic physiology to clinical application. The workshops will learn to assess the effectiveness of ventilation support in critically ill infants and children; how to examine the predictors to improve the clinical outcome of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV).
