Pediatric sepsis is generally considered to comprise a spectrum of disorders that result from infection by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites or the toxic products of these microorganisms. Early recognition and intervention clearly improve outcome for infants and children with conditions that lead to sepsis. While in the midst of COVID-19 nowadays, the pediatric population has been found to have a different spectrum of disease. Despite this, strategies need to be put in place to prevent further spread of the virus. This Webinar will present the specific strategies of sepsis management in emergency room and pediatric intensive care unit for critically ill children, as well as evidence-based guidelines for the care of critically ill children with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
