Nutrition of newborn infants, particularly of those born preterm, has advanced substantially in recent years. Extreme preterm infants have high nutrient demands that are challenging to meet, such that growth faltering is common. Late preterm infants are at greater risk for breastfeeding-associated re-hospitalization and poor breastfeeding establishment due to avoid higher incidences and long-term complications.
